I'm calling these "5am Christmas Cookies" because I was up till 5am working on them the other night. Oops.
It's not that I have poor time-management skills - it's really not. I swear. I just get carried away sometimes. I also like trying new designs (like the mittens) for the first time and occasionally underestimate how long they'll take to execute....
Anyhoo, these cookies were ordered by a very dear friend for one of her office holiday parties. She specified only that they should be blue and white. I tried doing blue and white snowflakes a couple of years ago and didn't love the colour of blue that I achieved so I was a bit unsure as how to make these pretty. I don't automatically associate "blue" with "Christmas" but I think I managed to make these look wintery and festive enough.
I've been seeing a lot of these cable-knit mitten cookies on Pinterest lately and was excited to try my hand at them. They turned out great, but holy cannoli are they time consuming! For just a bunch of lines and squiggles, they sure took their time getting done. Jerks. Delicious, pretty jerk cookies.
